"Brighter Days"

4-Week Virtual Group

January 18 - February 5

Monday's 7:30pm - 8:45pm

"Brighter Days" 4-week Virtual Group is a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Group intended to assist those with recurrent Seasonal Affective Disorder symptoms and/or the Winter Blues. You do not have to have a formal diagnosis of Seasonal Affective Disorder in order to attend this group. 

The virtual group will assist participants to:

  • Learn about the causes of Seasonal Affective Disorder

  • Develop awareness of personal patterns of seasonality

  • Create plans for change

  • Address behavioural patterns

  • Shift negative thinking patterns

  • Develop plans to maintain healthy changes

 What Is Seasonal Affective Disorder?

Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a type of depression that comes and goes in a seasonal pattern. SAD is sometimes referred to as the winter blues, as the symptoms can often be more apparent during the winter months, particularly in January and February.

Core Symptoms Include:

Low mood

Low motivation

Fatigue / sleep problems

Heightened anxiety

Difficulty concentrating

Change in appetite

Loss of interest

Irritability 

Benefits of Group Therapy:

  • It assures participants that they are not alone in their struggles.

  • Group provides an opportunity to both receive and give support to and from others.

  • We work to create a space to hear of successful interventions.

  • Group allows for different experiences to be heard and validated.

  • This form of therapy is much less expensive than individual therapy.
