Diana Wamsteeker MSW RSW
I strive to create a collaborative relationship with clients, who I believe are the experts in their own lives. It is important to me to create a safe and welcoming environment where clients feel heard, valued, and respected. It is an immense privilege to enter the stories of other people’s lives and I feel deeply honoured to do so. Previous clients have described me as down-to-earth, warm, and empathetic.
It is important for me to tailor treatment and interventions specific to each client’s individual needs, and so wholehearted listening and understanding to each unique story, experience, and situation is vital. Diverse experience within Alberta and Newfoundland had allowed me to utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities and intervention, based on a mutual understanding of client goals. I ensure treatment is trauma-informed and focused by using best practice standards.
I have additional training in evidence-based treatment modalities; including, Gottman Methods Couples Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Attachment Theory and utilize these within the context of a helpful therapeutic relationship.
I am a Registered Social Worker within the Province of Alberta and have been working within the mental health field since 2005. I have extensive experience working with children, youth, and adults and specialize in stress management, anxiety, depression, trauma, work-life balance, parenting, and relationship difficulties. I offer individual, couple, and family counselling.
